Himalayan Rock Salt:
Himalayan rock salt originates from northern Pakistan, an area called the “Salt Range”, not far from the Himalayas. It is a natural rock salt that was created when the prehistoric seas evaporated some 250 million years ago.
The actual salt rocks vary in colour from pure white to beautiful light pink and dramatic deep red, all depending on the iron oxide content.
Flavor: highly flavored with long-lasting spicy heat over a mild mineral body.
Ideal for: seasoning meat and fish, as well as vegetables.
Blue Rock Salt:
Extracted from salt mines in the middle east, blue rock salt is one of the rarest and most exclusive salts in the world. The intriguing blue color occurs during the forming of the salt’s crystalline structure, as intense pressure is exerted on the salt deposits. The individual crystals fracture the light in an unusual way creating an optical illusion that makes the salt appear more or less shimmering blue.
Flavor: initially quite present, then rather mild with a silken sweetness.
Ideal for: seafood, salads, French cuisine and truffles.
Kala namak rock salt
Kala Namak truly is a secret ingredient – especially in the vegan cuisine – as it adds an eggy, tangy and slightly smoky taste due to its high sulphur content. The unusual flavor makes it perfect for many vegan dishes like tofu scramble, chickpea omelettes and fruit salads.
Flavor: slightly smokey, tangy
Ideal for: South Asian cuisine, chaats, chutneys and raitas, vegan dishes, savory deep-fried snacks, movie night popcorn
Halit Salt Rocks:
Halit salt is white rock salt, found deep in the mountains of Pakistan. With its crystal clear appearance, Halit salt is one of the purest salts available and has a sodium chloride content of up to 99.9%. High in natural minerals, this salt can be used as a staple in your everyday cooking.
Flavor: intense natural salt taste, little goes a long way!
Ideal for: everyday dishes
Bolivian Rose Rock Salt
Mined from the Bolivian Andes, the beautiful rosy-pink salt contains up to eight times more iron and up to five times more potassium and calcium than sea salt. It has a slightly lower sodium content, making it perfect for those monitoring their sodium intake. As with all natural rock salt, a little goes a long way!
Flavor: mild and sweet
Ideal for: everyday cooking
Alpine Rock Salt:
Mined from deep in the Austrian Alps, the Alpine salt has one of the highest mineral contents available. Its reddish-brown color is caused by this high content of minerals, iron amongst others.
Flavor: intense, pure salt taste
Ideal for: dark meat and game meat
