World Finds

Sustainably Made

WorldFinds was founded to create social impact in artisan communities, while being kind to the earth. Our mission is to uplift artisans by creating dignified work, meaningful opportunities and long term partnerships. From the repurposed textiles to the handcrafted, small batch production methods used by our artisans all the way to the packing materials we use to ship your order, we strive for sustainability every step of the way. This journey has been one of progress, not perfection! We are always striving for ways to continue to be more eco-friendly.

Steps to sustainability:

  • Artisans use discarded wood scraps from local furniture factories for our bead bases.
  • Discarded Sari and Kantha textiles are repurposed into our jewelry and accessories.
  • Our artisans make everything by hand, in small workshops or their homes.
  • Product is transported via sea freight, or as cargo on flights already scheduled.
  • Our shipping boxes and packing materials are compostable and made from recycled materials.

Meet the Makers

There are over 700 incredible artisans that bring our jewelry and accessories to life! All of our styles are handmade by our artisan partners in India and Bali. Some are part of women's cooperatives or family groups, and others are members of the World Fair Trade Organization. Each WorldFinds style provides dignified work, fair wages, a safe workplace, and hope for the future through fair trade. Learn more below about the makers that handcrafted your WorldFinds accessories.

These talented women all handcraft your vibrant Kantha jewelry using repurposed Sari & Kantha textiles wrapped around a wooden bead base. Through our fair trade partnership, our artisan partners have gained financial freedom, personal independence and stability. Through their hard work, they have been able to send their children off to school, provide better nourishment for their families and even purchase homes.

These are some of the women artisans that handcraft your metallic jewelry! Our artisan partners are based out of New Delhi, India and work with other smaller groups to craft the charms, medallions, and other metal pieces for your jewelry. The group's workforce includes individuals from marginalized communities including refugees, women, people with disabilities, and survivors of domestic violence.

All of our textile bags & small goods are handcrafted by a small group of family artisans outside of Delhi. These artisans hand-select and pair together all of the repurposed Kutch textiles that are used in the accessories, making each one unique and one-of-a-kind.

Fair Trade Impact

Your purchase creates and extends a chain of goodness around the world!

Each bracelet, necklace, earring, and accessory made gives a woman artisan a job, a source of income and a means of preserving traditional crafts and art forms. This, in turn, provides education and food for the woman's family and community. In addition to our fair trade partnerships, WorldFinds is making an impact across the globe through other philanthropic campaigns.

Our use of repurposed materials and methods of waste reduction help keep our environmental impact low. By handcrafting our products, we use less energy and water and produce less pollution.

Through your support, WorldFinds is able to help women and girls in their pursuit of education. Our Girls Education Fund provides financial assistance for tuition, books and uniforms to children.

All of our products are handmade with love, providing a living wage, safe working conditions to our artisans, as well as the preservation of the techniques and culture behind the Kantha stitch.

Our best-selling Cause Connection Collection continues to expand and has resulted in over $28,800 in donations to 15 incredible organizations doing good in the world.

Sales of our Kantha Connection Bracelets in June 2020 allowed us to donate over $6,600 to the Equal Justice Initiative to support racial justice. We created a Cause bracelet to support this organization in 2021.

Our 2020 Fair Trade Month Initiative raised over $8,000 to help get badly needed food & medical supplies to communities in need in India. We donated 100% of the sale of our face masks back to our artisan partners.

Through our partnerships, our artisan partners are able to develop personal independence. Artisans have gone on to purchase homes, send their children to school, and even launch their own business!

WorldFinds is woman-owned & women-powered. We are committed to empowering women & their communities through fair trade. We also work with artisan groups that employ individuals from marginalized communities.

SO WHAT IS FAIR TRADE?

In the most basic terms - fair trade is an equitable, long-term relationship between trading partners, and a way to ensure low-income artisans are truly being helped out of poverty. There are 9 Principles of Fair Trade adopted by the Fair Trade Federation and explicit practices on how those principles can be achieved.
